Is there a way to use the sent date and time information from a .msg file for renaming? Could translating the file to some other format first work?

I haven't found any python modules to convert outlook msg files.

There are some standalone tools to do the conversion but I'm not sure if they would be helpful for you. One of them is at:

If it works, you would first have to manually do the conversion and then run PFrank to extract the data and even then I think PFrank can only read it if it is in RFC822 format.
