I need to change all the lower case letters of many folders

eg : Cell055 to CELL055.

What i need to is to have a rule that changes the case of the first 4 or 5 letters but leaving everything else after the same.

I have looked for help on the matter but being new to batch renaming and trying to solve too many problems at once is proving to be more trouble than i bargained for.

Oh and the other thing that may cause me problems down the line.I need to know how to change or rename every "/ " to a "+".

Any help appreciated ... thank you.

You need to use a pre-defined command. If you pull down the different fields of the pre-defined command panel you should be able to put together a command that sets the first 5 positions to upper case. You will end up with this in the search/replace columns (or you can just paste it in - but do not include the single quotes):

Row: 1
Search:
Replace: '*Upper Case in*Position*1:5*'

As for renaming "/" characters - this cannot be done since the "/" character is an illegal character in a filename.

As for the illegal characters i forgot where i was when i posted that.I am renaming folders containg mp3's which will be renamed using tags information.I will change the / to + before i rename folders.Silly me ...
