|

Hi,
I've searched for a tool to help me solving my renaming problem.
I have some hundreds of wmv Video-Files located in a folder structure like this:
C:\Video\file001\file001
...
C:\Video\file999\file999
In each folder there is the video "file001.wmv" ... "file999.wmv" and a file called "name.rtf" which is in rtf-Format and includes aditional text information like record date and time"2009_10_29_11_00_00"
My case is to automate renaming the wmv-Files like this "file001 - 2009_10_29_11_00_00.wmv".
I read that it is possible to read information from text Files to rename them. But I don't want to rename the text file, I want to use the information to rename the wmv-File in the same subfolder.
Is this possible?
Another problem is that the information isn't stored in plain text files but in rtf-Files which include a lot of meta Information. Maybe I ave to convert them to plain text files, but I'm not sure about this.
Thanks in advance for your hints and advices.

Hi Thomas,
PFrank does not support what you want as a general feature.
However, the requirements could be implemented as a plugin. See:
http://www3.telus.net/pfrank/PFrankUserCommand.html
When the plugin code executes, it is given full path filenames resulting from the main window scan. The plugin would then have to open the name.rtf in the same folder, pull out the relevant data, and create the new filename which it then returns back to the main program.
If you have any programming knowledge or know someone that does, then it can be done. Unfortunately I don't have time these days to do it myself.
