Hi,
I have a number of JPEG files which I want to rename using the EXIF information on date and time the picture was taken.
E.g. if the image was taken at February 12, 2007 at 14:35:01, the file should be renamed to something like this:
20070212_143501.jpg
How to do it? I am clueless.
Kind regards

There are a few things you need to do (this is actually a good question!).
1)
First you have to set up your date format. To do that, go to the option window (Main window top menu - choose View and then 'Options...').
Select 'Date Formatter' from the option tree in the left panel. Then in the right panel, select 'custom format'. In the 'custom format creator' insert the following:
%Y%m%d_%H%M%S
The same codes can be inserted by double-clicking the mouse over the format codes.
2)
Now you need to set up your image insertion options. From the option tree on the left panel, choose 'image information insertion'.
Clear the separator and insert the following:
%DateTimeOriginal%
Again, the same code can be inserted by double clicking the mouse over the format codes
3)
Press Apply or OK in the option window
4)
In the main window, set up your current folder and name filter. Then insert the following search/replace patterns into the custom renaming list (do not include the single quotes):
Row: 1
Search: '(?Ex) .* # remove prefix'
Replace:
Row: 2
Search:
Replace: '*Insert Image Information before*All*'
Both of the rows could also be inserted using the 'insert into list' buttons
5)
Press 'scan' and you should get a preview window showing the old and new names.
Hope this helps! |

Thanks a lot!
This was a very good and clear explanation. I hope it can be useful to other people too.
Kind regards
