Does PFrank support reading iptc fields from raw image files?
I have tried to use a couple of the expressions from the option dialog, but doesn't get any changed files....
what I'm doing is searching for all nef files in a folder tree, then insert the %ObjectName% before the filename...
I have also tried it on a tif fil without any luck...
please help
syntax =
searchstring: (\.nef$)
replacestring: %ObjectName% - \1 |

Pfrank will support reading IPTC fields from .tif files but not from raw image files.
To extract from a .tif (or other non-raw image files), do the following:
1)
go to the option window (press alt-o or go to the top menu bar on the main window and select View -> Options ...
2)
You'll see an option window pop up. select 'Image iptc insertion' from the left panel. You'll then see iptc insertion options show up on the right panel.. This is wehere you select %ObjectName% to be inserted.
3)
go back to the main window
In the custom renaming panel insert the following (without the single quotes):
Row: 1
Search:
Replace: '*Insert IPTC Information before*Prefix*'
This can be done by typing the insertion command manuallly or by pulling down 'Insert IPTC Information before' from the predefined command list and pressing the corresponding 'insert in list' button.
you might also want to fill in the name filter with something like *.tif. also fill in the current folder name.
4)
Now you are set up for inserting iptc info from files.
5)
press the scan button. You'll see a preview window pop up with a list of proposed changes. If you want you can see what iptc info is availabl ein the file and have that displayed in the preview columns; this is done by configring the 'column display' options in the option window.
If you don't see the objectname info inserted, then please send me some sample tif files and i'll have a look at them to see what's happening.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
