Anyone that can help, please. I've worked for hours now trying to rename files and save each to it's own subfolder. I don't think it's hard to do, I just can't figure out the right syntax.
This is what is my file directory now:
\images\profile(1).gif
\images\profile(2).gif
\images\profile(3).gif
and so forth up to profile(1000).gif for example.
This is what my desired directory structure and filenames should look like:
\images\1\1.gif
\images\2\2.gif
\images\3\3.gif
and on until no more picture files. Logically I think the steps are something like:
Delete the text "profile"
Delete the brackets "(" and ")" so now profile(1).gif is 1.gif
Somehow use the name of the file "1" for example and create a subfolder with that name. This is what I can't figure out.
Finally, copy or move the renamed file into it's designated folder,i.e. /1/1.gif.
Is this do-able? If not, any suggestions on some kind of file directory application that would? I just feel though that PFrank can do it though.
I have to figure out how to do this ASAP. Hate to say it, but my job depends on getting this project done and this file structure is a critical part of making it work.
Thank you in advance. |
