|
|
Is there or are there files that I can backup to external media that could be used to restore my renaming scripts should I experience a system failure?
I have created several "Custom Renaming Sets" that work beautifully for my needs. As I have experienced system crashes in the past I am sensitive to backing up my data.
I have sorted the PFrank directories by date. There appears to be two candidate files:
1. ConfigLocationDefault
2. ConfigLocationPortable
I would expect to be restoring this (these) files to a newly installed version or newer version of PFrank.
Your guidance would be greatly appreciated, SSBN610G |

Hi,
You have a few options.
1)
You can save all the configuratins of your current session to a configuration file. Form the main window top menu choose "File -> Save Configurations to ..."
This will save everything including any custom renaming sets. You can choose the destination folder and name of the configuration file.
That file can be loaded anytime using the "File -> Loade Configurations from ..." menu option.
2)
The configuration file is stored in a file named Config. This file stores all configurations (including custom sets) and is used by PFrank on startup. The file location depends on the operating system but is in some type of "Application Data" folder.
From the user guide:
For Windows Vista systems, the path to the "Application Data" PFrank folder is usually: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming.
For Windows XP/2000 systems, the path for the "Application Data" PFrank folder is usually: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data.
For Windows NT systems, the path for the "Application Data" PFrank folder is usually: C:\Winnt\Profiles\\<username>\Application Data.
For Windows ME/98 systems (profiles disabled), the path for the "Application Data" PFrank folder is usually: C:\Windows\Application Data.
For Windows ME/98 systems (profiles enabled), the path for the "Application Data" PFrank folder is usually: C:\Windows\Profiles\<username>\Application Data.
For Windows 95 systems, the path for the "Application Data" PFrank folder is usually: C:\Windows\Application Data.
Great care is taken to ensure backwards compatability of the configuration files so you should be able to use your custom sets in any future versions of PFrank.
