I think it would be useful to have a utility that would work like this:
1) you select the files in the user interface that you want to rename.
2) these files names are copied to the clipboard
3) then pasted in an excel column
4) in the adjacent excel column you enter the new file names
5) copy the new file names
6) return to the utility
7) and apply those names to the files
Excel is really powerful for building expressions and making series...useful features for renaming files. |

You can already do manual renaming by using the editing facility on the preview page.
But if you want to take advantage of excel features you can easily export the preview page to a csv file (File->'Export all columns' menu on Detailed information window (i.e. preview window). import the csv file to excel. Do all the renaming in excel, save the excel file to a csv, and import the csv file to PFrank (File->'Import Rename List' on Main Window). then rename the files using PFrank.
